Tiger Woods Won't Play US Open

Tiger Woods is going to skip the 2011 U.S. Open due to injury. In an article posted on tigerwoods.com, Woods is quoted thusly:
"I am extremely disappointed that I won't be playing in the U.S. Open, but it's time for me to listen to my doctors and focus on the future. I was hopeful that I could play, but if I did, I risk further damage to my left leg. My knee and Achilles tendon are not fully healed. I hope to be ready for AT&T National, the next two majors and the rest of the year."

The AT&T National is two weeks after the U.S. Open, July 30-July 3.

Woods originally injured his left knee and Achilles tendon at The Masters in April. He skipped the Wells Fargo Championship, then tried to play The Players Championship. But at TPC Sawgrass on May 12, Woods withdrew after just nine miserable holes of the first round. He then skipped last week's Memorial Tournament.

We're all just guessing about the severity of Woods' injuries. Is rest really enough? Or will he need yet another surgery on that left knee? And how much can he practice? How far behind is he falling with the new swing? Woods doesn't like to provide answers in the first place, but he may not even be sure of the answers himself now.
