And this week? The PGA Tour heads north for the RBC Canadian Open, the second-oldest non-major on the tour.
And for the week after a major (and especially one played on another continent), the field is pretty good. Among those playing are Paul Casey, Luke Donald, Ernie Els, Rickie Fowler, Jim Furyk, Anthony Kim, Matt Kuchar, Hunter Mahan, Geoff Ogilvy, Charl Schwartzel and Camilo Villegas. Injury-plagued Jose Maria Olazabal is trying to make a go of it, and defending champ Carl Pettersen is back.
And, of course, Mike Weir. If Weir wasn't entered, Canadian Mounties would track him down and escort him to the first tee. Weir is struggling mightily these days with his swing, and word is he's gone back to the stack-and-tilt guys.
The European Tour is in Sweden for the Nordea Scandinavian Masters. The biggest names in the in the field are sponsor invitees Dustin Johnson and Bubba Watson. This was a tournament that Watson said a few weeks ago - during his unfortunate French Open face-plant - the he wasn't sure he would play. But he is, and that's a good thing for a number of reasons, among them this: Getting more experience on European courses and in European Tour conditions can only be good for his game. To broaden one's experience (and in much more than just golf) is never a bad thing.
Check out the list of past champions at both tournaments by visiting our Canadian Open and Nordea Masters pages.
