PGA Tour's 2012 Schedule

Posted by topdog 200 days ago Golf News
The 2012 PGA Tour schedule is ... pretty much the same as the 2011 schedule. In other words, no major differences, only a few minor tweaks to the schedule.

A couple of tournaments have new title sponsors: The Bob Hope Classic in 2012 becomes the Humana Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation; and what was The Heritage becomes the RBC Heritage.

There are a few events that have some minor shuffling of dates. Perhaps the most interesting is the move that brings the late-season, unofficial money WGC HSBC Champions inside the PGA Tour schedule. This year, the HSBC Champions came after the conclusion of the PGA Tour schedule; in 2012 it will take place one week before the season-ending Children's Miracle Network Classic. The HSBC will be unofficial money again in 2012, but this change could result in the event becoming "official" down the road.

Dates for the majors:
  • The Masters, April 5-8
  • U.S. Open, June 14-17
  • British Open, July 19-22
  • PGA Championship, Aug. 9-12

The U.S. Open takes place at Olympic Club in San Francisco; the British Open at Royal Lytham & St. Annes in England; and the PGA Championship at the Ocean Course in South Carolina.

Two former (and future) major championship venues get showcased, too, during the FedEx Cup playoffs in 2012: Bethpage Black will be the site of The Barclays, the first of the four playoff tournaments; and Crooked Stick will be the site of the BMW Championship, the third playoff event.
