On PGATour.com's live scoreboard, Daly's scorecard was updated with an "18" for the par-4 fourth hole. An 18!
But that was a mistake, apparently one caused by a quip from Daly to his playing partner, according to PGATour.com's Tour Report.
But what Daly actually scored on the hole was bad enough: A 13. It was a 13 that included two unplayables and several unsuccessful attempts to get his ball out of deep rough; a hole that started, the Tour Report recounted, with a heeled tee shot.
Daly's 13 doesn't make the list of highest single-hole scores by tour players. But that's OK, because Daly is already on that list.
In fact, Daly is "credited" with the PGA Tour record for scoring an 18 on the par-5 sixth hole at Bay Hill in 1998. On that occasion, Daly put six balls into the water.
Today? Daly wound up with an 81.
